Romania makes history at the EHF EURO 2024 Women’s Handball Championship

The EHF EURO 2024 Women’s Handball Championship marks a historic first, as it is the first edition of the competition to feature 24 national teams. Romania is proudly represented by the women’s national team, which demonstrated passion and determination in the group stage, playing in Group B at the Fonix Arena in Debrecen, Hungary.

The support from the Romanian fans was impressive, with over 2,000 fans cheering the team on at every match, creating an electrifying atmosphere in the stadium. The team’s performance was crowned with a qualification to the main group I, alongside strong teams such as France, Sweden, Hungary, Montenegro and Poland.

Singureni Manor Polo Cup: A new chapter in the history of Romanian sport

We were honored to contribute to writing a new page of sports history in Romania, supporting the first international sand polo tournament in the country – Singureni Manor Polo Cup. The event, organized by the Singureni Polo Sport Club Association, in collaboration with World Polo, took place between October 11-13, 2024, at the Singureni Manor Equestrian Retreat and was a first for Romania.

The tournament brought together over 2800 spectators, both from Romania and from other European countries, underlining the potential of polo to become a new sporting and cultural attraction of reference in the Romanian landscape.

NIRO Investment Group was proud to participate in this event alongside the Corinthia brand, which will operate the group’s first hotel in Bucharest, scheduled to be inaugurated in early 2025.

We were present at the event together with Corinthia, the operator of the first hotel that we will inaugurate in Bucharest at the beginning of next year. During the three days of competitions, we enjoyed the show offered by the international polo teams, through matches full of dynamism and a special elegance. Also, the spectacular equestrian demonstrations added more charm to an already memorable event, turning the “Singureni Manor Polo Cup” into a landmark moment for the Romanian sports landscape.

Our participation in this event reiterates NIRO Investment Group’s desire to support projects that combine tradition with innovation and to contribute to strengthening Romania’s position on the international stage. NIRO Investment Group supported the performance of young talents at the Mircea Dohan Memorial 2024

NIRO Investment Group supported the 12th edition of the Mircea Dohan Memorial, a handball tournament dedicated to juniors and juniors III, held on August 30-31, 2024, in Carei. The event was organized by the Mircea Dohan Sports Club Association, in partnership with the Cristian Gațu Team Sport Club Association and with the support of the Romanian Handball Federation.

A launching pad for future handball stars, the memorial brought together teams from Romania, Hungary and Ukraine and was held under the sign of performance and sportsmanship, bringing together renowned clubs such as Alexandru Csepreghi Academy, CS Livada and Hajdunanasi Sport Klub.

Among the personalities who participated in the event were Romanian handball legends, such as Cristian Gațu and Gabriela Perianu, along with other guests of honor.

The final rankings highlighted the talent and determination of the young players:

– In the category of juniors III (women), CS Livada won first place, followed by AHC Valeria Motogna Zalău and KKS Cămin.

– In the category of juniors III (men), Alexandru Csepreghi Baia Mare Academy won the tournament, followed by Hajdunanasi Sport Klub and CS Seini.

In addition to the ranking trophies, special awards for individual excellence were also awarded. Burja Adrienn (CS Livada) was named the most technical player, while Gal Fruzsina (KKS Cămin) was named the best goalkeeper. The top scorer title of the tournament went to Rapolti Sofia from AHC Valeria Motogna.

Through its involvement in this event, NIRO Investment Group supports the development of young talents, promoting the values ​​of sport and the importance of education through competition. The group reaffirms its commitment to community and sport by supporting initiatives that help shape future generations of champions.

CSM Bucharest and CS Dinamo Bucharest, champions of the 2024 Romanian Supercup in Handball

NIRO Investment Group sponsored the 2024 Romanian Supercup in handball, both in the women’s and men’s sections, organized this weekend in Pitesti. The event brought together some of the best teams in the country, offering a show and emotions to Romanian handball fans.

The CSM Bucharest team once again demonstrated why it is one of the dominant forces in Romanian women’s handball, winning the Romanian Supercup 2024 after a tight final against CS Gloria 2018 Bistrița-Năsăud. The match ended with the score 28-27, CSM Bucharest managing to keep the trophy after a balanced confrontation with a dramatic ending. The outstanding performances of the players Neagu and Omoregie, each scoring 6 goals, were essential for the team’s victory.

In the small final, Dunărea Brăila won the bronze medal by defeating Rapid Bucharest with a score of 35-25, demonstrating the strength and consistency of the team in the competition.

In the same competition, but for men’s handball, CS Dinamo Bucharest defeated the Minaur Baia Mare team with a convincing score of 37-29. This victory marks the team’s seventh title in the competition, consolidating its leading position in Romanian men’s handball. Dinamo demonstrated a solid performance throughout the tournament, defeating Minaur Baia Mare with a clear advantage in both halves (18-15).

The bronze medal was won by CSM Constanța, who defeated Potaissa Turda with a score of 35-29, showing their strength and determination in the competition.

Congratulations to the CSM Bucharest and CS Dinamo Bucharest teams for their extraordinary performances and for winning the Romanian Supercup 2024 in women’s and men’s handball. Patricia Maria Țig won the Ţiriac Foundation Futures Galaţi 2024, a competition organized with the support of NIRO Investment Group

Patricia Maria Țig, 29 years old and ranked 387 in the WTA standings, has once again proven to be an undeniable force in women’s tennis. She recently won the ITF tournament in Galați, which had a total prize fund of $15,000, establishing herself as the top favorite. The tournament, organized by the Ion Țiriac Foundation, the Romanian Tennis Federation, and ASC X Tennis Galați, with the support of NIRO Investment Group, culminated in Patricia’s victory over Elena Ruxandra Bertea, with a final score of 6-4, 6-2.

The victory in Galați marks Patricia Țig’s 17th ITF title of her career and the second this year, following her win last month at the ITF tournament in Focșani, which featured the Ion Țiriac Trophy and total prizes of $15,000.

The Ţiriac Foundation Futures Galaţi 2024 tournament, held earlier this month, was the inaugural edition of a major international event, part of the ITF Tours circuit. The competition brought 32 athletes to Galați in the singles event and 16 pairs in the doubles. Among the Romanian players on the main draw were Ilinca Dalina Amariei and Georgia Andreea Crăciun. The competition also attracted athletes from countries such as Ukraine, Great Britain, Poland, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Italy, Spain, Ireland, and Peru.

Romania’s Youth National Handball Team Wins the NIRO Carpathian Trophy

Congratulations to Romania’s youth national handball team for their extraordinary victory in the NIRO Carpați Trophy! In a highly intense match, our team triumphed with a score of 34-29 against Poland, once again confirming the talent and determination of our Romanian athletes.

This remarkable success would not have been possible without the guidance of coach Adi Petrea and the unwavering support of the Romanian Handball Federation. Coach Petrea has once again demonstrated his skill in motivating and coordinating the team, leading them to this memorable victory. The entire team displayed sustained effort and an exemplary spirit, reflecting the passion with which they represent their country on the international handball stage.

The encounter with Poland was a testament to courage and strategy, with each player contributing to this triumph. Spectacular goals and solid defense were the key elements that ensured Romania’s victory.

Winning the NIRO Carpați Trophy is a tremendous source of pride and a testament to the potential of our youth team. This success is not only a reward for their hard work but also a strong impetus for future competitions.

Congratulations to the women’s national handball team – the Carpati Niro Trophy remained in Romania!

Congratulations to the athletes of the Romanian national women’s handball team, who won the Carpati Niro Trophy tournament, after defeating the Austrian team on Saturday with a score of 41-35 (24-17), in the last match of the competition in Bistriţa. It is a proud moment for all of us who have supported them on this incredible journey. We thank them for the sports show that inspires and fuels our common passion for handball!

The Romanian team ended the Carpati Niro Trophy with three victories – 33-28 against Switzerland, 32-22 against Portugal and 41-35 against Austria. The tournament was a final check before participating in the World Championship in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden (November 29-December 17), in which Romania will play in Group E, in Herning (Denmark), and will face Chile (December 1), Serbia (December 3) and Denmark (December 5). Depending on the position in the group, Romania’s next matches will take place on December 7, December 9, and December 11, with the qualified teams from Group F. We wish them good luck!

Romania is the only national team that participated in all 26 editions of the Women’s Handball World Championship.
