Niro Investment Group – Excellence Award at the Romania-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry Awards Gala

During the annual Gala organized by the Romania-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry, CCIRC rewarded with excellence awards various personalities of political, economic, social and cultural life in Romania, as well as companies that stood out through their tight economic relations with the People’s Republic of China.

The event took place in the presence of E.S. Mr. Han Chunlin – Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Bucharest and enjoyed the participation of Romanian and Chinese diplomats, representatives of companies with strong bilateral economic and commercial activities, politicians, representatives of the business environment, cultural personalities, journalists, representatives of civil society.

Niro Investment Group received an award of excellence from the CCIRC National College for its consistent activity, carried out over almost three decades, with a real impact in terms of the development of bilateral economic and commercial relations between Romania and the People’s Republic of China.

Upon receiving the award, Clitemnestra Gâdea, president of the Board of Directors of Niro Investment Group, said:

Anca Simionescu, the new General Manager of Niro Investment Group

Niro Investment Group, one of the main business groups in Romania, established in 1993 and specialized in investments and real estate asset management, announces the appointment of Anca Simionescu as General Manager, with the role of coordinating and developing the group’s investment projects both locally and internationaly.

With over 15 years of experience in the commercial and residential real estate investment market, asset management and business development, Anca Simionescu is a graduate of the Faculty of Robotics of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and holds a master’s degree in the same field from Osaka University, as well as an MBA in real estate mergers and acquisitions from Harvard Business School. As a member of the management teams of companies such as Skanska Romania, Forte Partners and Lion’s Head, Anca Simionescu has successfully coordinated landmark real estate projects in Bucharest.

At the beginning of her career, Anca Simionescu was part of the Niro Investment Group team, coordinating the development of Central Residential Park, the first condominium residential real estate project in Romania and a symbol of modern Bucharest.

I am delighted to join again the Niro Investment Group team and contribute to consolidating the development stage the Group has recently stepped in, by extending its activities and investments both nationally and abroad. Thanks to the bold projects developed over three decades, the activity of Niro Investment Group has become synonymous with entrepreneurial success. From her new position, Anca Simionescu is responsible for shaping, implementing and developing the Niro Investment Group’s strategy on the local and international market, as well as for identifying new business opportunities and expansion areas for the Group’s activity.

Niro Investment Group is currently in a new development stage, which includes as well expansion to international markets. The Group’s first major international investment is the development of a luxury resort in the Maldives. This project complements the large-scale projects already underway in Romania, such as Corinthia Grand Hotel Boulevard Bucharest or Swissôtel Bucharest, two premium hotel brands brought for the first time in Romania by Niro Investment Group.

With 30 years of experience in real estate investments, development and management, Niro Investment Group has a portfolio of projects totaling 500,000 square meters built and investments worth over 400 million euros. The projects developed and managed by Niro Investment Group include the largest commercial hub in Southeast Europe – the Red Dragon, office buildings, residential projects and hotels.

NIRO Investment Group supports the Foundation “Magazin Istoric”

The National Bank of Romania and the “Magazin istoric” Cultural Foundation organized on June 7-8, 2022, the XXXth edition of the annual Symposium on Banking History and Civilization “Cristian Popișteanu”. This year’s event had as its theme “Borders, institutions and gold in times of war” and brought to the public’s attention new information about the role of the NBR in the years of World War II, highlighting historical moments such as the transit through Romania of the stock of Bank of Poland gold or the evacuation operation of BNR headquarters in Bessarabia.

At the same time, the event marked the thirtieth anniversary of the first edition of the symposium, a period in which it contributed to the rediscovery of the Romanian banking tradition communist, as well as the financial education of the general public. The debates were moderated by Cristian Păunescu, adviser to the NBR governor. The event was broadcast live on our YouTube and Twitter accounts.

On the last day of the event, the representative of NIRO Investment Group, Ms. Ecaterina Vanea, presented the awards offered by the Cultural Foundation “Magazin Istoric” and supported by NIRO Investment Group, for the most important contributions of historical research in 2021.

Romanians developing Romania

Niro Investment Group participated in the Romanian Capital Forum – Romanians developing Romania, event that took place at the Parliament Palace, on the 17th of December.

High level representatives of public authorities, such as the Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă and other government officials and representatives of some of the most important companies in Romania discussed present issues regarding the business environment.

NIRO Investment Group was represented by Andreea Mihai, Executive Director and Christophe Chamboncel, Head of Hospitality and Development, who presented the newest projects developed by the company.

ROMANIAN-LATVIAN ANNIVERSARY

On the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Romanian-Latvian diplomatic relations, the ceremony of raising the Romanian and Latvian flag took place on February 26, 2021, inside the headquarters of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the headquarters of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Riga.

Consul of Latvia in Bucharest until March 31, 2025. For 30 minutes, starting at 6.30 pm, the facade of the Romanian Government headquarters in Victoriei Square in Bucharest was covered by the

SPRING FESTIVAL, ON THE OCCASION OF THE CHINESE NEW YEAR 2019

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Romania together with Niro Investment Group and the Romanian-Chinese House organized, between January 31 and February 2, for the tenth consecutive year, the series of cultural events “Spring Festival”, on the occasion of the Chinese New Year. During this edition, the artistic ensemble of the Beijing Dance Academy held performances of traditional Chinese dance in Bucharest and Ploiesti.

The events reflect the good relations that the two states have been developing for seven decades and which are based on a successful economic collaboration. Niro Investment Group has been supporting this collaboration for 25 years through investments and partnerships with Chinese companies, contributing to the development of large-scale projects in several fields. For example, more than 2,000 Chinese companies operate in the Dragonul Rosu Shopping Zone, the largest shopping center in Central and South-Eastern Europe.

The first show in the series of events “Spring Festival” took place in Ploiesti, at the Trade Union Hall, on Thursday, January 31, 2019, where the Beijing Dance Academy was preceded by the Doina Prahova Ensemble and the Chindia Folk Ensemble.

On Friday, February 1, 2019, those interested were able to watch the Chinese artists in a short performance inside the Dragonul Rosu Shopping Complex.

The series of events dedicated to entering the Chinese New Year ended on Saturday, February 2, 2019, with a show-event that took place at the Romanian Athenaeum. The guests enjoyed a variety of artistic styles, from traditional Chinese dance to pop-opera and authentic Romanian folklore, experiencing at the artistic level the Chinese-Romanian symbiosis. “The year 2019 has a special significance, because it marks 70 years of uninterrupted diplomatic relations between Romania and China. It is remarkable how the two countries have managed to provide a solid model of interstate cooperation, based on friendship and mutual support. We are confident that these bilateral relations will continue to expand into even wider areas, with the help of our Romanian partners. Therefore, on this anniversary, I would like to thank our Niro Investment Group partners for their involvement and support over the years, “said Tu Jiang, Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Romania.

We are happy to reveal Romanians the Chinese traditions and customs, and promote the values ​​of one of the oldest cultures in the world, with a history as rich as China. The Romanian-Chinese House aims to be a bridge between the two countries, to contribute to the development of relations between Chinese and Romanian businessmen, to promote cultural exchanges and to come up with valuable initiatives for the community “, said Ecaterina Vanea, general manager of the Romanian-Chinese House.

In the opening of the event at the Athenaeum, Distinto, the first pop-opera project in Romania, was the first performer and was followed by the Chisinau Fiddler Orchestra conducted by maestro Nicolae Botgros, together with the singer Veta Biriş. The Chinese New Year show was performed by artists at the prestigious Beijing Dance Academy, established in 1954 and acquired the status of a higher education institution in 1978. The academy has a university teaching staff of nearly 600 people and over 3500 students. 

The show offered in Romania this year by Chinese artists is based on Guo Feng, one of the four main sections of Shi Jing (Book of Poetry), the first anthology of songs, poems and hymns in Chinese literature. The choreographers of the Beijing Dance Academy created a whole dramatic performance based on folk and love songs from Guo Feng. The dance combines poetic elements with modern ideas, offering a way of natural communication through body expressions. Artists do not copy ancient popular movements, but present a reinterpretation of them.

NIRO INVESTMENT GROUP STRENGTHENS ITS POSITION ON THE ROMANIAN HOSPITALITY MARKET

Niro Investment Group, one of the largest Romanian business groups with expertise in real estate investments, development and asset management, announced its official plans for extending its operations on the local hospitality and tourism industry. A significant investment in hospitality projects, estimated around 60 million euros for the next 4 years, was announced on 10th May, 2018, during the official launching ceremony of the partnership for Grand Hotel du Boulevard, a hotel that will reopen in 2019 under the luxury hospitality brand Corinthia. 

The event took place in the imposing refurbished ballroom of the historic building in the presence of Romanian public and private sector enterprise, Corinthia Hotels and Beaufort Global officials, representatives of the Swiss Alpine Hospitality Education Group and Hospitality Asset Managers Association, as well as honoured local and international guests.

“This is an exciting period in Niro Investment Group’s ongoing growth, and we are honoured to be in partnership with important luxury brands like Corinthia and support the growth of the local hospitality and tourism market,” said Mr. Nicolae Dumitru Chairman of Niro Investment Group. “The reopening of Grand Hotel du Boulevard represents a major enterprise for our company within the real-estate hospitality sector, as we plan to develop, over time, a world-class portfolio of hotels and restaurants in Romania. I am confident that with the proper expertise and the ongoing dedication of our professional team and support of our partners, we can continue to build on the company’s successes to further grow our business presence into new fields of activity” 

In March 2018, Corinthia Hotels and Niro Investment Group announced the signing of a long-term partnership for opening a new luxury property in Bucharest: Grand Hotel du Boulevard, a symbolic historic building that will open its doors again on 1st December 2019.  Built in 1867, the listed building was last used as a hotel over a decade ago and will now undergo refurbishment to sit in line with the signature standards of timeless luxury and style associated with Corinthia. The transaction was advised by Beaufort Global, a leading Investment, Development & Asset Management firm based in Dubai, UAE. 

The hotel refurbishment project is coordinated by the design, engineering and management company QP Management, a sister company of Corinthia that brings a team of leading global design, engineering and project management professionals who were behind important restoration projects throughout the world. PORR, an established, innovative European construction company, has been engaged as the General Contractor for the renovation works at the property.

In addition to this partnership, Niro Investment Group executed a cooperation agreement to support The Romanian Maltese Relief Service (SAMR), a non-profit organization that for the past 25 years has been developing programs for the benefit of those in need – the elderly, the sick, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. The Romanian Maltese Relief Service is the bearer of the Sovereign Order of Malta mission.

Niro Hotel Development – a new conference, leisure, and business travel hotel

Niro Investment Group continues to extend their Real Estate Hospitality investments with the development of a new hotel property in Bucharest, located on the Expozitiei Blvd. The new project is estimated to open by 2021 and will totalize almost 30,000 sqm total built area, targeting the premium business and leisure market.
